Breastfeeding during Calamities

A strong earthquake after the strong quake brought us trauma and paranoia.

It will come to a point where we must maximize limited resources in case an evacuation is needed.

Nevertheless, I am happy that I chose to breastfeed my child.

Natural disasters make it hard for us parents to feed our infants, especially amid the temblor nor sudden evacuation.

Imagine making milk amid life-threatening situations is a big hassle.

There might also be power interruption and scarcity of sterilized water for the powdered milk.

But in breastfeeding, you won’t need to prepare anything. It’s automatically ready. Breastmilk also helps protect babies from diseases such as diarrhea and respiratory infection. It also provides the calories, and nutrients babies need. We need to protect our child, especially that water may be contaminated, and the environment is unsanitary during disasters. Thus, it remains the best feeding option at times like this.

I encourage my fellow mothers out there to continue breastfeeding. If you’re mix feeding your child, opt to breastfeed more.

If you’re a breastfeeding mom, don’t hesitate to offer your milk to feed hungry babies.

Breastfeeding does more than feeding your children; it can save their lives.

Stay safe and be prepared!

📌 Are you a breastfeeding mom too? How long are you breastfeeding?
